More than 1.8 million American adults diagnosed with autism and/or I/DD live with caregivers over age 60. That puts those adult children at a growing risk of displacement or even homelessness.
In response, First Place Global has launched a national translational research collective of tri-sector leaders committed to coordinating research to help pave the way for more neuro-inclusive housing options.
Data collected will inform policymakers, funders and developers so they can better respond to this growing crisis. The aggregated information will also shed light on future economic and social impact derived from neuro-inclusive housing developments.
The collective anticipates a ripple effect with the potential for economic and community impact beyond this population. What works for neurodiverse individuals works for everyone else.
