Spark the Spectrum Event Sparks Interest in Voting
Election officials and disability rights advocates teamed up once again to offer an inspiring, informational and interactive voting workshop at the Ability360 Conference Center. The packed room of engaged participants heard from special guests Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes and Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer, along with other voting officials, disability advocates and community representatives.

Be Ready, Be Employed, Be Proud!
The First Place Global Leadership Institute has kicked off the Be Ready℠ Employment Readiness Program for adults with autism and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities, neurodiversities and/or mental health diagnoses. Available online and in person, Be Ready prepares you with the skills, knowledge and confidence to get hired and succeed in the workplace. Be Ready, be employed, be proud! ‘Tis the season for spending time in the pool—and what better opportunity to combine leisure with some “cool” fitness moves? Aquatic specialist Donna Lewen recently made a splash at First Place–Phoenix, leading residents in some fun aqua-pilates exercises.
Chef Titina was back this month for Clever Cooking, turning the culinary teaching kitchen into an Italian trattoria. Residents and staff worked together with her expert guidance (she makes it look so facile!) to make homemade ravioli stuffed with chicken, ham and cheese—topped with a fabulous lamb marinara and dollops of pesto. Delizioso!
With the snap of some glow sticks and the boom of some tunes, the Zen Room became the Zumba Room when special guest Jon revved up residents for a rousing and illuminating Zumba glow party.
